I just did a little research online about the rarity of having three surviving triplets.
The survival rate for each triplet from conception to birth hovers at about 60%. This means that to have three surviving triplets only happens about 22% of the time, either because of vanishing twin syndrome, TTTS, or cord entanglement. These stats were taken from another site and I'm not sure of all of their sources, but I have heard a number close to that before. The doctors in our NICU figured that having identical triplets happens about once every 4 million births. WOW ... I have never felt as lucky as I do now ... I should play the lottery!
